Today students finished watching Star Wars and handed in the accompanying assignment. 

Humanities 8

Today students worked on their hyperbole and metaphor worksheet to begin class.  Next they reviewed simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia and hyperbole before watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Students were asked to find examples of the above.  Finally, the answers were reviewed and assignments were turned in.  There is a Christmas party scheduled for tomorrow.

December 16

Humanities 8

Today we started off with sacred writing time.  Then we did fill in the blank notes of some poetry terms.  Finally students worked on a worksheet that had them practice writing metaphors and hyperboles.

English 10

Today tests were returned and we started an assignment related to the movie Star Wars.  The hero's journey was investigated as well as the genres of science fiction and fantasy.  The majority of the class was spent watching the movie.  Assignments will be due at the end of the movie on Friday.

Today we started with some announcements re test marks and the cut off for ATDPI work -FRIDAY!!

Next students were asked to write some definitions about genre, science fiction and fantasy in preparation for watching Star Wars.  The assignment sheet focused on the hero's journey as it relates to the movie and the genres.

Today we started off with our religion test.  Then students finished off puzzles or did some silent reading. Finally, we did some party planning for Friday.

Humanities 8

Students stared off with silent reading.  Next students were directed to review their notes and their maps in preparation for a second practice quiz. After the quiz was completed and reviewed, students exchanged their puzzles with someone else to have them do it.  Once the puzzle was complete the puzzle was handed in.  The keys are due tomorrow if they were not handed in today.  Test tomorrow - study hard!

Today students started with silent reading.  Next students were asked to look over their brainstorm and outline with their partners and write the rough draft of their half of the essay.  This was to be handed in at the end of the class.  Student projects were returned and marks were posted.

Humanities 8

Today students started with silent reading.  Then students did a practice quiz on their religion unit and then reviewed the answer.  Finally, the students were given the task of creating a crossword puzzle which included 10 words or a word-search with 15 words.  The words and clues should all be related to our religion unit.  Test Tuesday!

Today we started out with silent reading.  Next we reviewed the important aspects/components of essay writing.  We also reviewed the differences between expository,persuasive, comparison and narrative writing.  Finally, students partnered up to pick a topic for an essay.  They were tasked with brainstorming and creating an outline for an essay on a topic they are very familiar with.  The focus will be on structure and process. Tomorrow students will be writing their half of the essay.

Today we started off with sacred writing and then we finished off our religion chart.  We also viewed a powerpoint for some visuals to help us remember the information.  There will be a test on Tuesday on religion!
